   Qingdao Association for Science and Technology

    青岛市科学技术协会(简称青岛市科协)是青岛市科学技术工作者的群众组织，是中国共产党领导下的人民团体，是党和政府联系科学技术工作者的桥梁和纽带，是推动科学技术事业发展的重要力量。

    青岛市科协由全市学会、协会、研究会和基层科协、企业科协组成。科协机关下设办公室、组织人事部、学会部、科普部、国际部等部门。直属事业单位有青岛海洋科技馆、青岛市科技馆、青岛市科技咨询服务中心、青岛科技干部进修学院、青岛市青少年科技活动中心等。

    主要工作：开展学术交流、推动主自创新；普及科学知识、推广先进技术、提高全民科学素质；举荐人才、表彰奖励优秀科技工作者、优秀学术论文和科普文章；开展科技咨询服务；开展国际民间科技交流，发展同国外学术团体和科技工作者的友好交往；开展继续教育和培训工作；组织青少年科技教育活动；管理所属学会，指导基层科协开展工作，出版学术刊物。

    现有市级学会（协会、研究会）87个，会员4.8万人，基层科协12个，企业科协25个。

    Qingdao Association for Science and Technology is a non-profit, non-governmental organization of Qingdao scientific and technological workers under the Communist Party of China (hereinafter referred to as CPC). It is the vital nexus between CPC, government and scientific and technological workers. It is an important driving force in developing the city’s science and technology.

   QDAST is composed of municipal academic and professional societies and associations, basic-level associations for science and technology, and enterprise associations for science and technology. Its leading bodies consist of Administrative Office, Human Resources Department, Department for Affiliated Institutes, Science Popularization Department and International Department. QDAST owns five subsidiaries including Qingdao Marine Science Museum, Qingdao City Science and Technology Museum, Qingdao Science and Technology Consulting Service Center, Qingdao College of Further Education for Science and Technology Cadres and Qingdao Science and Technology Activity Center for Children & Youth.  

   The major tasks of QDAST are: to promote the advancement of subjects and technology innovations by means of academic exchanges;to carry out activities for Popularization of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as PST), to popularize vanguard technology and raise the basic essence of the mass in science and technology;to award scientific and technological workers with outstanding contributions;to make scientific argument and supply consultation service;to develop cooperative relations with overseas science and technology communities and scientists, to hold international academic conferences and exhibitions; to undertake the continuation education and training projects among science and technology cadres;to arrange science and technology activities for education among teen-agers;to guide the routine work of basic associations and come out with academic publications.

  QDAST is currently composed of 87municipal academic and professional societies and associations, with 48,000 members, 12 basic-level associations for science and technology, and 25 enterprise associations for science and technology.
